Fresh off of our trip to Hawaii, here's a super cool and inspired original animated property I am working on with Stacie Harmon of 9th wave and Miah Alcorn. I'm so "stoked" to be working on this. Zack's Hawaiian "Welcome to Manhood Manly MAN Trip!"

In very exciting news:
Zack and I traveled to the BIG ISLAND of Hawaii to celebrate him ushering into manhood!

We had the trip of our lives, seeing exploding lava from Volcanoes by Helicopter, dropping in on overhead surf @ perfect breaks that used to be reserved for Hawaiian Royalty, and experiencing the culture in a very special way in our time with Bear, a local surfer/instructor (and dream-maker!) who was our incredibly gracious liason to the Island, helping us understand how important environmental stewardship is, all the while helping to shape Zack's energy + life outlook as he journey's into manhood. I couldn't be more appreciative of what he allowed us to experience. Namely, our New Year's Eve excursion and ceremony with Ole where Zack was officially cristened in a traditional Hawaiian blessing. It was truly unforgettable. What started out as a trip to help Zack view life in an inspired way, ended up even helping me understand my importance as a Father and steward, and he and I returned transformed. Now here's a great project by all counts. I was approached a while back by some super cool folks who have been trying to bring a GREAT idea to life, but never seemed to quite get the project groovin.

Who better to instill the sentiments of patriotism, spreading peace, + environmental stewardship, than these 3 Lil' Eaglette characters, who are the decendants of our National Symbol, the bald eagle. Roger, Pax, and Terra, respectively, represent these qualities with fun communicative design and animation.

Learn more @ www.3lileagles.com .... but suffice to say this project was a hoot, er, a "screach." I teamed up with Miah Alcorn to bring these little guys to life through a fun animation and website. Miah's incredible talent for character + look design really took off with this project, you are incredible my man! Thanks so much for teaming up on this one with me:)

Snowboard trip!

A much needed vacation to Steamboat Spring, CO was a blessing in the beginning of 2010. Loads of snowfall and -25 degree weather was something I'm not used to, but it was alot of fun to snowboard in true (champagne) powder the elevation is known for...here are some cool pix from the trip!

HSN 3D viz work

Pretty excited to dive back into 3D full force with monthly viz renderings for Viking Production/Ingenious products for client HSN with some high end product visualizations.

I'm having a blast working with MAX + Mental Ray quite a bit lately. These are fun exercises for me to really hone my 3D skills for a slew of upcoming pretty involved 3D cinematic projects:)

Huge news, I won a Global Award for my healthcare related work on the Body Toon Ups with Dr. Pete E. Attric for Kohl's and All Children's Hospital.

The award was given out in Sydney, Australia recently. Super cool, because I was inthe company of, and in many cases, beat out work from some of the top agencies in the world, like Saatchi & Saatchi , DDB, BBDO, Olgivy Worldwide, & Leo Burnett.

Like everyone else in the world, I've gotten into iPhone apps. I just know that when this game hits I'll be driving around in my Ferrari laughing at the thought of having to work ever again...um, well, maybe not...

BUT, I did have fun working on the animation and graphics for this fighting game. Here's a screen tease..as soon as it's launched, I'll send the address and upload some cool animations from this game + the other two apps I worked on for a studio in Hong Kong:)

Halloween Party!

Our yearly Halloween Party was more succesfull than ever. We raised $3,000 for the Children's Cancer...Here's the illustration/flyer I created for the night.

We were 900 strong with 100 people waiting to get in at 12:30! Hulk Hogan won the costume contest in an unbelievable show of buffness! Only barely beating out my good friend Rowan, who came as a blow up car dealer wind decoration. Great costumes, killer vibe, and beautifull women EVERYWHERE...and sorry Mangroves (venue) I guess it's not a party until the Fire Marshall shows up! YIKES!

Going through some old files, I ran into these layouts and animation plans for Lowry Park Zoo, for whom I did a :30 a while back. I love this style, which was hand drawn characters, mapped onto 3D surfaces and then deformed. A cool and cost effective style...sort of a 3D multiplane camera, if you will. Enjoy the look and setup design.

Riley Animation + the boys from Dublin! U2!

Truly a spiritual night when U2 came to Raymond James Stadium. We arrived at the Stadium @ 7am, braving hot weather, South Americans who don't understand the concept of a line, security, and wicked games of 4 square. Muse rocked, but it was the boys from Dublin that made the night one of the most incredible ever. The Claw was magnificent. Beaming in Gui, the founder of Cirque de Solie from the International Space Station was crazy cool....We will be seeing them in NY, Miami, and possibly Toronto upon their return. So AWESOME!!

Sunburn Serenade character designs + big news

Here's some more "Sunburn Serenade" rough design, + an opportunity to announce some exciting news that Jim Valdes and Scott Parttridg have joined the team officially under the title "Client Engagement," meaning they will be marketing and selling my work as well as assisting in creative brainstorming and client contact. They are good friends, great people, and super hard working, and are helping to launch my work onto an international stage. I am truly blessed to be surrounded with such talent and tenacity:)

Sunburn Serenade!

Here's some fun artwork from the production of "Sunburn Serenade," a 2:30 song styled animation about how not to get a sunburn. I should pay attention to my own work, apparently, as I'm nursing one now!

These characters were part of a collection created for the animation by myself and the Mighty Miah Alcorn who's talent is something absolutely out of this world. He and I have a great time teaming up on projects and the result is always super quality and really entertaining. The song is by Mike Sexton and Joel Momberg of All Children's Hosptial, who's incredible talent in songwrting has me working with them on another project that I shall soon be able to reveal!

Red Bull FLUGTAG WINNERS!!

Tampa smashed the record for number of people in attendance for their Flugtag event. 1200,000 people came out on a blisteringly hot day to watch all manner of crazy, zany, costumed characters take flight (or try to)...and speaking of smashing:)

We absolutely annihilated the field of competition with the third farthest Flugtag flight of all time at 120 feet!! (The closest, second place finish was something like 20 feet)

We took home the winning trophy and mad respect from what looked like 1,000,000 people from the top of the flight deck.

Check out the pix and our inspiration, the one and only "Hoff." Thanks to Keith, Kev, Dave, Chris and Bobby..and all the Tampa Baywatch fans (bully with the bullhorns!) who came out to support us. Truly our 15 minutes of fame!

Florida Aquarium Exhibit design + Animation!

Check it out..here are some frames from seven 1:3o to 2:00 minute animations I created for The Florida Aquarium. I was charged with developing characters, storylines, animation, and even tank/exhibit design for their biggest expansion since their opening (In the early 90's, I think!).

A super cool project! Thanks to Pete, Maggie, Polly, and Steve @ the Aquarium for trusting me with developing & bringing these guys to life. Also thanks to Marc Battaglia & Kirsten for the scripts and assist with the creative direction, the Mighty Miah Alcorn for the help with "Mandy," and Marc Rose for the killer sound design! We knocked it out of the park!

"A Chicken Named Mac"

Here's another installment of the All Children's Hospital intersticials..."A Chicken Named Mac"

This animation is about something we can all relate to (adult & kids alike)--->too much fat food and not enough exercise!!

The animation features a TV commercial style chorus treatment, mixed with a narrative about a chicken (named "MAC," obviously!) who learns to eat right and exercise. This is about as fun as animation gets:) Super Props to the AMAZINGLY MIGHTY Miah Alcorn, who gave me the invaluable opportunity to work with me on this production and Sunburn Serenade to bring both to their full potential. I can't say enough about what a pleasure it is to work with him-talk about talent! Also thanks to Mike Sexton and Joel Momberg for the great rockabilly style tune that made this so fun! This entire project wouldn't even have happened if it weren't for their amazing, relentless talent. I am truly blessed to work in the company of people like these guys.

"I Am Not a Little Ant!"

Here's a cool little intersticial (think "School House Rock") style animation I just finished on the proper way to wear a backpack. Seems kids all around the country (and world, for that matter) crunch their little spines by packing their backpacks too heavy!

This great tune by Joel Momberg and Mike Sexton of All Children's Hospital is intended to help kids (in a fun way) learn about backpack safety. It's part one of a 3 part intersticial project aimed at pediatric health education.
